Neighbourhood
King's Cross
1 / 2
If you are at UAL this is the obvious place to look, and the walk to the Granary Building is short enough that you will do it in the rain without thinking about it. King’s Cross St Pancras carries six Underground lines plus the Thameslink, which makes it the easiest address here to get anywhere from. Coal Drops Yard and the canal are the reason people stay on after they graduate.
Rooms
Choose your room.
Each tier has its own rate. Every room has the run of the building’s shared spaces.
All your utility bills – water, electric, gas, internet, gym and use of all the social spaces – are included in the price. There are no hidden charges, what you see on your contract is what you pay (besides any damage to the room or fees you incur).
Am I allowed to have guests to stay?
You are welcome to have guests through the daytime, and an overnight guest for a reasonable amount of nights. You'll need to get permission from management for an extended period. They will need to provide a form of ID to check in through your resident portal, and you will be responsible for them throughout their stay. Please note, you will also need written consent from management if your overnight guest is under 18 years of age.
How secure is the accommodation?
They have CCTV in and around each property, an electronic key entry system for the main entrance, common areas, each flat and bedroom. There is also staff on site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Will I need to pay council tax?
In the UK, students are exempt from paying council tax – you won’t need to pay this, but if the council do mistakenly bill you, you will need to provide details to prove that you are in full time education.
Do I need a tv licence?
If you bring your own TV, or want to watch or record programmes as they are shown live (including on mobile phones, tablets or computers), you will need to apply and pay for a TV License. This also includes TV's provided by the management.
What if something in my apartment breaks down?
If you’re having any problems with your room, a shared living space, or one of the communal areas, you have two options. You can log the issue via the Resident portal, providing details so their maintenance team can get this sorted for you as soon as possible. Alternatively, you can come down to the front desk and talk to a member of the team so they can log it on your behalf.
Can I have pets?
Unfortunately, you are not allowed to keep any pets in your room or any shared living spaces.
What happens if I don’t get on with my new flat mates?
They want your university experience to be as positive as possible – if you are having any issues with your flat mates, please let them know. They will do their best to help resolve any problems you might be having.
Can I receive post and parcels?
Lockable mailboxes located in the lobby (or speak to the front desk team to locate yours) - your room keycard may also give you access to this (please check with the front desk team to know more). If any larger packages, or anything that requires a signature arrives for you, they’ll hold onto it and let you know via text or email so you can come and collect it. For security reasons, you will need to provide photo ID and give a signature to confirm collection. Post will not be given out to other residents on your behalf without written authorisation
Can I live with my friends?
They are more than happy to accommodate groups as well as individuals. Let them know who you’re planning to live with, and they’ll do their best to accommodate you in the same flat.
Is there an age limit for booking accommodation with the management?
As a minimum age requirement, property residents need to be or have turned 18 during their tenancy with them. This is due to the legally binding tenancy agreement that each resident is required to sign before arrival. They have no upper age limits on their accommodation, so long as the resident is in full time education for the duration of their stay.
What appliances and furniture are included in my room?
All rooms come with a bed, desk and chair. Extras such as kettles, toasters and lamps are not provided.
Writing this review as a visitor, not as someone who lives here.
The staff were very kind and helpful (shoutout to Monét!!), the whole building and room were clean with very comfortable bed and pillows. The room I was in had a huge window that was facing the courtyard, so it wasn’t so loud. I chose this place mainly because it looked clean and safe, and it truly didn’t disappoint. I felt very relaxed and at home after exploring London each day. I ended up extending my stay for 2 more days. Would recommend to stay here.
Booked on booking for short stays. Arrived with room not cleaned. Toilet unflushed. Shit in the toilet and Trash in the room.
Got another room but also not very clean with hair on the sheets. Shower is of course clogged. Elevator is broken.
Then on day 3 the front desk decided to ask security to kick me out 8 in the morning because I’m not supposed to be in that room?
They couldn’t communicate that I need to switch room via email or booking message beforehand and just decided to banging on my door while I was a sleep in the morning. When I asked the security why, he just yelled open the door like he think he’s the police. Very disrespectful.
We know that they offer short stays because they want to save operational cost and no student wants to stay with them long term. I mean I stayed there because it’s cheap as well. But at least I’m expecting cleaniness, good communication and respect. They failed at all. Do not stay here at all cost. It’s very mismanaged, the staff are not trained properly and will not treat you with respect.
Feel bad for the students living there.
It's a good place to stay unless you don't have any issues in your room. If you're not very determined, very assertive and you don't complain every day at the reception desk nothing will be fixed. You will just be informed that they will take care of the issue but then nothing happens and nobody knows anything.
One extra star for great location. Also rooms have everything you need for a short stay, including basic utensils and towels.
Great stay at chapter Islington! Maame and Monét were really friendly and helped us a lot during our stay. They got us a fan for the warm weather, it was truly lovely.
It is located in a calm neighbourhood, no noise complaints at all. Tube line to the centre nearby
I loved my time living in Chapter Islington in my third year of uni, wonderful accommodation with great staff, amenities and top notch cleanliness. But the highlight of my time here was by far the maintenance technician, Costin. Not only is he the warmest, friendliest and most joyful person I have ever met he is also extremely efficient, skilled and truly a master of his craft. Be it any technical or practical problem he’s got it all handled. He is truly a joy to converse with as well and just makes your day brighter. I will never forget the day I was moving out and realized I did not have enough moving boxes, Costin saw me overcome with stress and gave me the boxes I needed, I didn’t even have to ask he just helped out as he always does. It’s truly the Costins of the world that make it a better place. So whoever comes to Chapter next you have nothing to worry about because Costin has it all handled and will always have your back.
